Apprenticeships are growing in popularity and demand. They enable learners to gain invaluable hands-on experience and training. Children and young people’s care, learning and development offers diverse and rewarding opportunities to those with an interest in this sector.
From social care and residential work to education and management roles – a children and young people’s apprenticeship provides the knowledge and skills to step into this pivotal and rewarding environment. An apprenticeship programme provides a clear pathway for employers to attract much-needed talent, upskill and invest in the children and young people’s workforce of tomorrow.
The Skills to Succeed
Apprenticeships are the ideal way to invest in the development of your people and the future of your organisation. You can reduce skill gaps, upskill existing employees and attract fresh, new talent to your team. Your apprentice will develop in the shape of your organisation, providing a skilled, loyal and motivated recruit.
Successful apprentices receive an Intermediate, Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship certificate, as well as a wage whilst training and working towards the full apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship programme is also one of the most cost-effective ways to develop and recruit. The UK government is encouraging employers to build an apprenticeship provision into their strategy and (in many cases) providing funding to help cover the costs. Both levy and non-levy paying employers are entitled to incentives for apprentices’ they recruit. A study by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills states that the cost of apprenticeship training has paid for itself within a couple of years. Add to that potential government funding and an apprentice programme makes recruiting and training cost-effective for organisations of all sizes.
Safeguarding children and young people’s welfare, social care, health and safety, and equality and inclusion are just some of the priceless skills that apprenticeship training will yield.
