TRN Gateshead Construction Skills Academy Going from Strength to Strength

Here at TRN we see our Gateshead Construction Skills Academy as the jewel in our crown and according to feedback from local councils and construction suppliers we’re not alone.

Working with Builders such as Kier, Wates, Tolent and Robertsons we feel that the Construction Skills Academy is going from strength to strength.

As well as it being the home for our apprentices while they are on day release, we also run a number of pre-employability training courses. Also, as part of our growth strategy we have started to gear up the Construction Skills Academy facilities to accommodate the delivery of new qualifications which allows more scope to deliver bespoke courses such as Healthy Home Healthy Head, Summer Camp and DIY courses for the Gateshead/Newcastle community.

One of the Centre’s current sponsors is Buildbase in Gateshead who kindly donated a number of building materials.

I would like to add that this is very much a unique training centre that we have been very lucky to be involved with and the development has grown and grown, helping train the new generation of builders alongside key suppliers has been a pleasure and we will continue to support the project at Gateshead branch.

We have also built a street scene Bungalow in the Gateshead Construction Skills Academy. The purpose of the Bungalow is to simulate real-life experience for the candidates, so they feel they are working on a real house with simulated faults to repair.

We also have tool and hardware manufactures involved in giving demonstrations and training our tutors/instructors in the latest product ranges, which in turn is passed to our learners, enhancing their skills which will aid in TRN becoming a centre of excellence. This will benefit the businesses looking to take on our Trainees/Apprentices as they will be employing a candidate that is competent with the latest innovations in the construction sector.

The manufactures/suppliers we are working in partnership with to enhance our learners’ skills are:

As the centre grows, TRN will continue enhancing the training on offer, listening to the marketplace and implementing new strategies that aid in the continued success and future proofing the quality of our construction training for generations to come.
