Introducing our new Engineering and Manufacturing Department

We are proud to announce the addition of our new Engineering and Manufacturing Department!

Train have recently added an Engineering and Manufacturing Department to its portfolio, this will enhance the provision which already includes Health & Social Care, Construction and a wide range of commercial courses.

Our Apologies. This course is no longer available. Please see our courses page for our most current training programmes.

The first area to be targeted is the introduction of an adult Performing Manufacturing Operations (PMO) Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship. The qualification involves the skills and knowledge needed for occupations in performing manufacturing operations including complying with statutory regulations, promoting effective working relationships and preparing for, controlling and concluding manufacturing operations.

The qualification can be taken by full time employees and enables them to develop the appropriate skills in the workplace. The qualification has numerous units linked to typical job roles. The primary purpose of the qualification is to confirm the candidate’s occupational competence in a specific job role.

The second target is to engage with 16-18 year old candidates who wish to commence a career in engineering or manufacturing through an Advanced Apprenticeship. Engagement will take place with employers who are looking for apprentices, further actions will be undertaken to let young people know that Train are now delivering engineering and manufacturing apprenticeships.

Train will be engaging with Connexions, attending career events and visiting schools to get the message out there. All potential candidates who engage with Train will be aptitude tested and interviewed prior to sending to any company.

The number of disciplines covered will increase as the number of apprentices grows, assessor case loads will be around 40 learners to ensure the quality of service is maintained. Train will also be looking at the possibility of developing its own workshops to bring as much of the apprenticeship in house as possible. The apprenticeship will offer a wide variety of added value qualifications which can be selected by the employer to fit their needs.
