Lauren Bentley began working at Cedar Lodge, Norton in June 2014 as a volunteer.

Lauren’s mother approached TRN (Train) to enquire if Lauren was eligible for an apprenticeship. Training courses and their funding options were explained and discussed with both Lauren and her Mom.

Before coming to TRN Train Paul had been unemployed for approx 3-4 years, with no qualifications and very little work experience.

Paul completed the TRN Train - Construction and Civil Engineering Services Level 1 course successfully and gained his CSCS card.

Learner: Gary Halfpenny
Employer: Jobcentre Plus / Barratt Homes

Gary was unemployed for 3 years before enrolling into the Construction and Civil Engineering Services Level 1 course with TRN Train.

Gary completed the construction course with us, achieved his CSCS card and secured temporary employment through Carbon 60 with Barratt Homes as a Labourer on site.

Learner: Billy McKay
Employer: Jobcentre Plus / Canterhall Builders Limited

Billy had been unemployed for over 20 years when he approached TRN Train.

Working with our Skills and Employment Team, Billy enrolled into and completed the TRN Train - Construction and Civil Engineering Services Level 1 course, where he gained both a nationally recognised qualification and the foundation skills required to seek employment in the construction sector.

Employer: Unemployed

Sarah had been unemployed for 6 months when she was referred by Jobcentre Plus to attend a pre-employability training course in practical office skills at TRN (Train) Ltd.

Learner: Laura Wear
Employer: Branthwaite Nursing Home

Laura Wear started as a carer at Braithwaite Nursing Home and completed her level 2 apprenticeship with TRN (Train) Ltd. Laura was eager to learn as she wanted a career pathway in nursing.

Learner: John Grey
Employer: Jobcentre Plus / Hodgson & Sayer
Supervisor: Gary Tate, Hodgson & Sayer

TRN (Train) Ltd have been working with AVANTA and Jobcentre Plus to provide pre-employability training in the construction industry since August 2012. This programme is part funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF) and co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency. TRN (Train) Ltd deliver training on a rolling basis every 5 weeks, supporting an average of 8 unemployed learners on each course, in which one of these learners was John Grey.

Learner: Donald Foreman
Employer: META Demolition

TRN (Train) Ltd were approached by META Demolition to carry out several NVQ assessments and up skill training on demolition and plant operatives. The focus of this study is Donald Foreman who was a plant operator in the demolition sector as well as a site supervisor for META.

Brian Hodgson started as a learner at Branthwaite and is now a senior carer on the challenging behaviour unit due to the training he has undertaken with TRN (Train) Ltd and the funding made available by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF) and co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency.

Learner: Andrew Fuller
Employer: ENSUS

TRN (Train) Ltd were approached by ENSUS to carry out novice training and NVQ assessments with Andrew Fuller. TRN (Train) Ltd have had an excellent rapport with ENSUS since late 2009, carrying out training and assessments with over 40 learners in plant operations.

Learner: Amy Lambert
Employer: Brandon Lodge

Amy started her career as a care assistant and undertook her level 2 apprenticeship in health and social care. She attended training sessions with her assessor and showed great passion to progress within the sector and completed her award in 12 months.
