A Funded Built Environment Services Apprenticeship Standard for Property Maintenance Operative

Property Maintenance Operatives ensure that buildings are kept in good condition by ensuring that electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment are kept in working order. They will also undertake preventative and reactive maintenance on buildings to ensure that the appearance of the interior and exterior is maintained appropriately.

The employee must meet a minimum level of English and Maths skills in order to undertake this course.

This qualification is for individuals working as maintenance operatives in domestic and commercial premises, to given specifications, repairing or renewing wood products, masonry, roofing, wall and floor tiling, decorating, bricklaying and plastering, depending upon the units taken in the qualification.

It covers a range of skills including carpentry and joinery; painting and decorating; wall and floor tiling; plastering; roofing or trowel occupations such as bricklaying or stonemasonry, allowing individuals to work as multi skilled operatives upon completion of the qualification.

A funded general construction intermediate apprenticeship

If an employee already works in construction or are just starting their career as an apprentice, this is an opportunity to demonstrate their competence. This apprenticeship training is flexible to suit all fields of general construction operations.

  • The training is funded if the employee does not already hold a level 4 qualification (or equivalent), or higher qualification.
  • The employee must meet a minimum level of English and Maths skills in order to undertake this course.

This qualification is for learners who work or want to work as bricklayers or craft masons in the construction sector. It allows learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in bricklaying or craft masonry.

The bricklaying pathway covers areas such as working on a construction site, setting out basic structures, building brick and block walling, laying domestic drainage, placing and finishing concrete and render surfaces. The craft masonry pathway covers areas such as working to given specifications, setting out and erecting masonry structures, placing and finishing concrete and render surfaces.

This qualification is for learners who work or want to work as a bricklayer in the construction sector. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in bricklaying. It covers areas such as working on a construction site, setting out structures and carrying out complex building work.
