The structure of the course enables you to learn, develop and practice skills in which you will gain a nationally recognised qualification – City and Guilds Level 1 in Construction Skills.
You will also acquire employability skills on the course to seek employment and/or progress in the construction sector.
During induction and throughout the course you will receive information, advice and guidance on course content, career opportunities and skills development.

- Introduction to the construction industry

- Painting a panel door
- Constructing block walling
- Constructing half brick return corners

Who is the training for?
This course is designed for those who want to develop skills and knowledge for working in the construction sector. You must also be prepared to attend any job interviews that you are suitable for.
What do I need?
You need to be aged between 16 and 19 and unemployed.
You will need to be interested in working in the construction sector. A course application form should be completed prior to course commencement.
Course delivered at our Construction Skills Academy on Bensham Trading Estate, Lobley Hill Road, Gateshead, NE8 2XN.
The course is 30 hours a week and runs for a total of 18 weeks. Each week there will be one practical day at our Bensham Centre, 1 day at Bizspace, and half a day in the computer suite.
