Prevention and Control of Infection

Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection

Now more than ever, infection prevention and control is essential. Germs spread from person to person through a common sequence of events. TRN’s Level 2 Award in Prevention and Control of Infection is aimed to help people prevent germs from infecting people by breaking the chain of infection. When we break a link in the chain, we can prevent infection arising.

An understanding of how to successfully prevent and control the spread of infection is essential in ensuring that individuals do not unknowingly cause people that they come into contact with to become unwell.

The course covers the importance of risk assessment and of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the causes and transmission of infection, cleaning, good waste management practice and decontamination.
