A health and social care higher apprenticeship

This Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management consists of seven mandatory units including a research project, PLUS additional mandatory units relating to pathway chosen PLUS optional units. The pathways relating to this qualification are Residential Management, Management, Advanced Practice.

  • Employees must meet a minimum level of English and Math skills in order to undertake this course

 

To be eligible – employees must:

  • Be aged 19 years or older
  • Have been resident in the UK/EU for at least three years prior to commencing their apprenticeship
  • Be employed in England and have a Contract of Employment
  • Work for at least 30 hours per week
  • Not currently enrolled onto any other apprenticeship, or another DfE funded FE/HE programme

 

Training is arranged to suit your business needs:

Training takes on average 24 months to complete, however this can be shorter dependent upon whether the employee has any recognition of prior learning (RPL) or unit/credit exemptions. We will discuss this with your staff at enrolment

Course structure

The course is made up of the following components:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (seven mandatory units including a research project, PLUS additional mandatory units relating to pathway chosen PLUS optional units)
  • Mandatory Units
  • Use and develop systems that promote communication
  • Promote professional development
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Undertake a research project within services for health and social care or children and young people
  • Understand professional management and leadership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings

 

PLUS additional mandatory units dependant on pathway chosen. Units selected from chosen route:

  • Residential management
  • Management
  • Advanced Practice
