CSCS/CPCS Card Checker

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) and CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) cards provide evidence that construction workers have the relevant training and qualifications for the jobs they do on site and in doing so improve standards and safety on construction sites within the UK.

There is no legal requirement to hold a CSCS card, however, most construction employers and all major contractors will insist on workers having a CSCS card, proving their competency before being allowed on site.

The law requires that those working in a construction environment must be competent. Anyone working in a hazardous area, working at height, or using plant equipment, should be trained to a competent level before being allowed to start working on site.

A CSCS card not only demonstrates that an individual has relevant training, but that they also hold the required skills and experience needed to work safely in the role. This includes the knowledge and understanding of health and safety subjects such as manual handling, accident prevention and reporting and construction site best practices.

The CITB provide an Online Card Checker, free to use on their website. The Online Card Checker can be used to check the validity of the following types of cards:

  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
  • CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme)
  • CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme)
